TRANSCRIPT REQUESTS
The bankruptcy court does not transcribe Court proceedings. To request a transcript of a hearing, complete the official transcript order form for each hearing requested and submit the form with the appropriate court search fee. This is the only approved transcript order form the Clerk will accept. For approved CM/ECF filers, the transcript order form must be submitted as a flattened pdf through the CM/ECF event “Request for Transcript” and the fee paid through CM/ECF accordingly. For non-CM/ECF filers the form and fee can be brought or mailed to the Clerk’s office at 701 Broadway, Room 170, Nashville, Tennessee, 37203, during office hours for processing. The Court does not accept transcript requests via fax, email, or telephone.
When the transcript order form is received and the applicable court fee is paid, the Clerk processes the request by assigning the approved transcription service provider as selected in the order form. The transcription service provider will contact the requester directly to coordinate the payment for the appropriate time frame selected and delivery once the transcript is prepared. The time frame for processing of a transcript is one of the following four (4) options:
- 30 Day: A transcript to be delivered within thirty (30) calendar days after receipt of the deposit by the transcriptionist.
- 14 Day: A transcript to be delivered within fourteen (14) calendar days after receipt of the deposit by the transcriptionist.
- 7-Day (Expedited): A transcript to be delivered within seven (7) calendar days after receipt of the deposit by the transcriptionist.
- 3-Day (Expedited): A transcript to be delivered within three (3) calendar days after receipt of the deposit by the transcriptionist.
Please note that the time frames listed begin when a payment deposit is made with the transcription service provider, and NOT when the transcript order form is processed by the Clerk. It is also important to note that transcripts cannot be picked up at the Court or the Clerk’s Office. The maximum approved rates for transcription are prescribed by the Judicial Conference and are available on www.uscourts.gov.
If the transcription service provider is not available to transcribe the hearing in the requested timeframe, the Clerk will go to the next available transcription service provider that can accommodate the request. Once the transcription service provider is confirmed, the Clerk will transfer the records for transcription to the service provider. Once the service provider is confirmed, the deposit made and the records transferred, the service provider will be available to respond to any questions about the transcript order.
SPECIAL NOTE RE: § 341(A) MEETING OF CREDITORS
§ 341(a) Meetings of Creditors are not a statutory function of the Judiciary. They are exclusively under the direction, control, and scheduling of the U.S. Trustee and the trustee assigned to the case. Therefore, the § 341(a) Meeting of Creditors is recorded by the trustee. The Court does not have in its possession, nor does it provide a copy of the recording. For § 341(a) Meeting of Creditor recording requests please contact the U.S. Trustee for their procedures in obtaining the audio files.
PRIOR TO FILING A TRANSCRIPT REQUEST
Check the case docket before filing a Transcript Order Form. If a transcript for the hearing requested has already been made or the transcript is filed on the case docket, it is not necessary to file a new transcript order form. Contact the transcriber directly for a copy of the transcript already created. Neither the Court nor the Clerk is responsible for determining if a hearing has been previously transcribed.
LIST OF APPROVED TRANSCRIPT PROVIDERS
Please note that the following transcription service providers have completed an approval process and may be used to provide transcripts of Court proceedings for the Middle District of Tennessee Bankruptcy Court. The transcription service provider will advise on their procedures and the costs associated with your request. Please note that the Court does not make any recommendation as to which service provider to use. If no preference is noted on the Transcript Request Form, the Court will assign a provider on a rotating basis.

TRANSCRIPT COSTS & FORMS OF PAYMENT
The transcription service provider will make direct contact regarding transcript costs and forms of payment. Rates may vary but may not exceed maximum charges set by the Judicial Conference of the United States (maximum rates are listed on the US Courts Transcript Rates page).
DOCKETING OF TRANSCRIPT
Upon completing a transcript, the transcription service provider files and uploads a copy of the transcript to CM/ECF creating an entry on the case docket. The PDF of the transcript is restricted for the first 90 days in accordance with Judicial Conference policy. It is the responsibility of the parties in the case to file any requests for permanent restriction or redaction within the first 90 days. See, Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure 9037. Please note that even during the first 90 days, the transcript may be viewed (but not printed) at the public terminals in the Clerk’s office (room 170) during normal business hours at no charge.
